MAC Prep & Prime Fix + Review

M.A.C Prep + Prime Fix + is a blend of vitamin and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile, and cucumber. The spritz has a natural scent of sugi and helps set makeup. Available in Rose, Lavender, Coconut and Original.

This is a great spray when used for the purpose it’s designed for. That sounds like a no-brainer, but I admit to using it as a refresher spray on more than one occasion and it definitely doesn’t excel in that area, particularly over lighter coverage makeup. As a primer, though, it lends just the right amount of tackiness to the face to help foundation stick longer. I would recommend holding it as far away from your face as possible, as it can get more spritz close-up than mist.

My top favourite way of using this is as base in place of a primer. Applying a spritz of this over my daily moisturiser creates the perfectly smooth and grippy base for liquid foundation. It is really light and makes my foundation last from day tonight without any fade.

My second favourite way of using this is as a setting spray. It is amazing the way it transforms powder into a really smooth and dewy finish that lasts through any event. This is my fave setting spray for events and also summer. It saves me from turning into an oil spill in hot and humid weather. It is not sticky or heavy and is so refreshing.

I now use it regularly after applying any body foundation or concealer. Secondly it amplifies the pigment of any of my shimmery eyeshadows. I spritz the eyeshadow brush a couple of times and then dip into the eyeshadow and apply to my lids. You can get the same effect if you spritz straight after applying any shimmery shadow to your lids but I end up getting it in my eyes (don’t ask!) so have stopped doing that.

It’s very lightweight, I can’t tell it is on my skin, other than the fact that everything lasts longer, and it smells really fresh too. Most importantly this is one of those products that I feel confident in using liberally, as it’s almost completely natural. With cucumber, chamomile and green tea thrown in, not only is it good for my skin but refreshing too, especially on a hot day. A very versatile product with many good uses.
